Liberal nonprofit and PAC to spend $57 million to turn out Latino voters in 2024
The liberal nonprofit Somos Votantes and its political action committee, Somos PAC, have announced a massive $57 million plan to mobilize Latino voters in support of President Joe Biden and Democratic candidates in key battleground states. With the Latino electorate growing rapidly and playing a crucial role in elections, the group aims to engage and educate Hispanic voters to increase turnout and support for Democrats.
According to Somos Votantes’ president, Melissa Morales, the organization’s focus will be on states like Arizona and Nevada, where they plan to knock on over 1 million doors and invest in bilingual communication to boost support for Biden and Democratic candidates. The group’s efforts will also extend to House and Senate races, with a particular emphasis on helping Democrats retain control of Congress.
The push to engage Latino voters comes as both parties vie for their support, with Republicans also looking to make gains among Hispanic voters. Alfonso Aguilar, Hispanic engagement director for the conservative American Principles Project, emphasized the need for Republicans to start engaging Latino voters early and effectively in order to make inroads with this crucial demographic.
As the 2024 election cycle heats up, the battle for Latino voters is intensifying, with organizations like Somos Votantes and Somos PAC leading the charge to mobilize and educate Hispanic voters. With millions of dollars in funding and a strategic focus on key states, these groups are poised to make a significant impact on the outcome of the upcoming elections.
