NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas — As the highly anticipated Peppa Pig theme park prepares to open in North Richland Hills, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is making a plea to keep meat off the menu.

In a letter dated May 13, PETA addressed Hasbro, the producer of the Peppa Pig cartoon, and Merlin Entertainments, the operator of the theme park, requesting that only vegan foods be served at the upcoming attraction. PETA senior director Danielle Katz emphasized the importance of aligning the park’s menu with the values of the beloved children’s TV show.

“None of Peppa’s friends or family should be exploited or eaten, so we urge you to serve only vegan foods at your theme parks,” Katz wrote in the letter. “Surely, Miss Rabbit would never butcher her chicken friends to serve nuggets or take a mama cow’s milk—meant for her babies—to make cheese pizza.”

The theme park, slated to open next to the NRH20 water park later this year, is expected to offer a range of rides, interactive attractions, and a water play area. While the specifics of the menu for the North Texas location have not been disclosed, PETA pointed out that if the park follows the menu of its Florida counterpart and includes animal products, it should adhere to the same standards for all animal-based items.

“Just as you decided to leave pig flesh off the menu at your Florida theme park, we expect you’ll do the same in Texas, given that pigs are intelligent, playful, and affectionate beings—just like Peppa herself,” Katz stated in the letter. “You clearly recognize the irony of selling pig meat, so why sell products made from other exploited animals like Carol Cow or Mrs. Cow? Just like pigs, cows, and other animals are friends, not food.”

As the debate over ethical food choices continues, the decision on whether meat will be served at the Peppa Pig theme park in North Richland Hills remains to be seen. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
