George Strait Breaks U.S. Concert Attendance Record in Texas
George Strait, the “king of country music,” has added another feather to his cap by breaking the record for the largest U.S. ticketed show. The iconic singer played to a crowd of 110,905 fans at Kyle Field at Texas A&M in College Station, surpassing the previous record set by the Grateful Dead nearly 50 years ago.
In a historic moment, Strait bested the 1977 attendance record of 107,019 fans at New Jersey’s Raceway Park, selling nearly 4,000 more tickets for his show. The “Amarillo By Morning” singer expressed his excitement at being at Kyle Field for the first time and promised to return if invited back.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Ted Cruz were among the attendees who praised the concert as spectacular and a great experience. Strait also debuted two new songs from his upcoming album, “Cowboys and Dreamers,” to the delight of his fans.
With the most No. 1 singles of any artist in any music genre, the most No. 1 albums in country music history, and over 120 million records sold worldwide, George Strait continues to solidify his status as one of the greatest music artists of all time. His legacy of breaking records and captivating audiences shows no signs of slowing down.
