George Strait Breaks Record for Largest U.S. Ticketed Show at Kyle Field in College Station
Country music legend George Strait made history over the weekend as he broke the record for the largest U.S. ticketed show. The “king of country music” performed at Kyle Field at Texas A&M in College Station, playing to a crowd of 110,905 fans in south Texas.
This attendance number surpassed the previous record set nearly 50 years ago by the Grateful Dead, who had 107,019 fans at a show in New Jersey in 1977. According to Billboard, Strait sold nearly 4,000 more tickets than the Grateful Dead, solidifying his title as the “king of concerts.”
During the show, Strait expressed his excitement to be performing at Kyle Field for the first time, telling the crowd, “Just invite me back, I’ll come!” Texas Governor Greg Abbott was in attendance and praised the concert as “unbelievable,” calling it the largest packed house for a concert in America ever.
Strait also debuted two new songs from his upcoming album, “Cowboys and Dreamers,” to the delight of his fans. Special guests Parker McCollum and Catie Offerman joined him on stage for an unforgettable night of music.
