Exciting News for Arlington: Satellite Startup Plans Headquarters and Manufacturing Hub at Arlington Municipal Airport
Arlington, Texas is on the brink of a major economic boost as a startup specializing in satellite manufacturing eyes the city for its headquarters and manufacturing hub. E-Space Inc. is looking to establish its operations at Arlington Municipal Airport, a move that could potentially create over 3,000 jobs in the area.
The Arlington city council is set to vote on April 23 on whether to approve a master agreement between the city, the Arlington Economic Development Corp., and E-Space Inc. The agreement would pave the way for the construction of a 250,000-square-foot manufacturing and office building, a 40,000-square-foot hangar, aircraft parking apron, and an airport access road on the west side of the municipal airport.
E-Space, a telecommunications startup founded in 2022, currently has offices in Saratoga, California, and Beverly, Massachusetts, with a global team of 170 members across the UK, France, and Germany. The company plans to develop a 750,000-square-foot manufacturing and office space in Arlington, with projections to employ a minimum of 400 people in the first five years, with an average annual salary of $95,000.
Over the course of a 30-year lease agreement, E-Space could potentially create 3,335 direct and indirect jobs and generate more than $8 billion in salaries. As part of the agreement, the company must show proof of a lease for initial space in Arlington within 90 days, invest $2.5 million in start-up costs, and engage in planning sessions with the city to discuss municipal uses of its technology.
E-Space CEO Greg Wyler, who previously founded satellite companies O3b Networks and OneWeb, brings a wealth of experience to the table. With a track record of success in the satellite industry, Wyler’s leadership could be a game-changer for Arlington’s economic landscape. Stay tuned for the city council’s decision on this potentially transformative partnership.
