Heading: SoCal Local on TikTok and Instagram
Southern California News Group has launched a new TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube account called the SoCal Local. Led by Audience Engagement Producer Carolyn Burt, the SoCal Local aims to highlight the coverage from their award-winning reporters across Los Angeles County, Orange County, and the Inland Empire through bite-sized video breakdowns.
The SoCal Local’s videos cover a range of topics, from entertainment news like behind-the-scenes looks at Coachella and Disneyland’s food festivals to important local news affecting Southern California residents. They also provide updates on college news, such as the ongoing Pro-Palestine protests at USC, UCLA, and UC Irvine.
Recognizing the changing ways in which people consume news, the SoCal Local aims to connect with younger audiences on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. By engaging with followers, answering questions, and receiving news tips directly from the community, the SoCal Local hopes to be a reliable source for news in Southern California.
