Accelerating change: Progressive leader Drew Galloway looks to nurture, fund grassroots groups

Progressive leader Drew Galloway is on a mission to nurture and fund grassroots groups in Texas through his new venture, BRIDGE. The initiative, which stands for Building Resourced Infrastructure for Diverse Grassroots Engagement, aims to support organizations like Radical Registrars, a group that has already made a significant impact by registering nearly a thousand new voters.

Galloway, who previously led MOVE Texas to success in youth civic engagement and leadership, is now focusing on providing early resources and funding to progressive social justice organizations. Through BRIDGE’s Spark program, selected organizations will receive $100,000 in funding, mentoring, and support to help them grow and develop their initiatives.

The goal is to find the next generation of leaders and organizations that can make a difference in Texas politics. By investing in these groups and providing them with the tools they need to succeed, Galloway hopes to empower progressives and flip the state from red to blue.

With a strong track record of success at MOVE Texas, Galloway’s vision for BRIDGE is backed by a $1.2 million first-year budget and support from major donors. The application window for BRIDGE Spark is now open, and Galloway expects to select three to five organizations for the first cohort in September.

For groups like Radical Registrars, the opportunity to receive seed funding and mentoring could be a game changer. With the support of BRIDGE, these organizations have the potential to make a lasting impact on Texas politics and create positive change in their communities.
